DREAM BIG GUINEA PIG!

A guinea pig wearing a blue jacket holding a book, with a bunch of red balloons in the background.

In his book, “Journey to GuineaPigVille,” Gillie follows his dream. Now he can help you. Dream of flying to space or becoming a YouTube star?

Here are Gillie’s tips to get you on your way

STEP 1

A cozy wooden hamster cage inside a barn or shed, with two hamsters dressed in clothing. One hamster is inside the cage, looking out, while the other is on a box reading a book. There are apples and a small rat near the box, and string lights hanging above.

Tell the world. Gillie shares his dream with anyone who will listen. Your friends and family can surely help. And don’t pay attention to people who say you can’t do it. Gillie encountered them too. Instead, encourage them to discover their own dream. Or like Gillie does, make them part of yours!

STEP 2

A guinea pig and a hamster sitting on a piece of paper with a diagram, with a green pencil case and a black pen nearby, on a wooden surface.

Make a plan. The best way to dream big is to start small. To begin, paste pictures of your dream on a vision board. A grownup can help. If you love baking, find photos of cakes and cookies you like. Hunt for recipes and visit bakeries. In no time you’ll be on your way to becoming cupcake royalty.

STEP 3

A guinea pig sitting inside a cardboard box, reading a colorful children's book with a blue hoodie hanging on the side.

Break out of your box. Dream of being a mermaid? Visit the beach, collect shells and read about ocean life. Maybe you can take a boat ride, learn to snorkel or swim with dolphins. You may grow up to be an underwater architect! Then you can build your own castle under the sea. No tail required.

STEP 4

A group of guinea pigs and a dog gathered on a grassy farmyard, with a red barn in the background.

Celebrate the victories! Dream of rescuing dogs? Maybe you can start by volunteering at a shelter someday. But right now, you can post ADOPT ME signs around your neighborhood with their info. Of course placing a pooch is a celebration itself, but so is going for ice cream after a job well done.
